Course Outcome:
This module will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to
understand the safety requirements when handling an Automatic External
Defibrillator (AED), as well as the skills to use an AED within the first
minutes after a cardiac arrest
Entry
Requirements:
Nil
However it is recommended that participants have literacy
competencies equivalent to Level 2 as described in the Certificates of General
Education for Adults (2112AFL, 2212AKC, 2212ALC)

and hand it to the trainer at the commencement of the course or by using the
Online Enrolment form.

4 hours
Qualification:
- It
is important that you attend each session of this course so that you are eligible
to receive a Statement of Attainment.
- Your
certificate has been accredited by the Victorian Registration and
Qualifications Authority, it's nationally recognised and entered on the
National Training Information Service.
- Your
certificate will be valid for 1 year. If you are unable to attend any
sessions, please contact your instructor.
- When
attending a class, please bring - This workbook; Your First Aid manual;
Writing paper/pens or pencils.
Competencies to be achieved during
the training:
At the successful completion of this course you will be able
to:
1.Explain why Early Defibrillation & the 'Chain of Survival' are
essential and explain the Structure & Function of the Heart
2.Manage a cardiac arrest using an Automatic External Defibrillator - (AED)
(A full copy of the course curriculum will be made available upon request)
Assessment
Procedure:
You will be assessed at the end of the course to show your
instructor that you have an appropriate understanding of the procedures
necessary to manage a life-threatening situation.
This will consist of:
- Theory
Assessment paper
- Resuscitation
demonstration using an AED
You must show competence in each section to qualify for a
certificate.
Facilities & Equipment:
Each participant will be provided with all of the
intellectual materials required to study all modules. Each program will also be
supported with adequate Teaching Aids to assist with the theory and practical
training modules such as CPR manikins, Bandages, Visual Aids, Handouts etc as
appropriate.
