Assessment Procedure: Assessment will be conducted during the course to demonstrate to your
instructor that you have the required knowledge and skills of the procedures
necessary to manage an unconscious, non-breathing and pulseless person prior to
the arrival of medical aid.
This process will consist of – Skills Competencies - demonstrate competency in
all skills as detailed above conducted in off the job environment simulating
work conditions whenever possible.

Facilities & Equipment: Each participant will be provided with all of the intellectual materials
required to study all modules. Each program will also be supported with
adequate Teaching Aids to assist with the practical training modules such as
CPR manikins, Visual Aids, Handouts etc as appropriate.
Provide Basic
Emergency Life Support
Course Outcome:
Describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life
threatening emergencies using basic life support measures only. This unit
stands alone and incorporates the content of unit HLTCPR201A Perform CPR. Entry Requirements: Nil However it is recommended that participants have literacy competencies
equivalent to Level 2 as described in the Certificates of General Education for

basic emergency life support.
Entry Requirements: Nil However it is
recommended that participants have literacy competencies equivalent to Level 2
as described in the Certificates of General Education for Adults (2112AFL,
2212AKC, 2212ALC)

Course Outcome:
This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid response, life

the arrival of medical or other assistance. This unit also addresses the
establishment and maintenance of facilities to enable or facilitate the
provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace. This unit also
incorporates the content of HLTFA404A Apply advanced resuscitation techniques.
Entry Requirements:
To undertake a course in Occupational First Aid there is a prerequisite that
participants Must hold a current Workplace First Aid (Senior First Aid)
certificate or equivalent.

requirements when handling an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), as well
as the skills to use an AED within the first minutes after a cardiac arrest, as
well as skills and knowledge to safely perform oxygen therapy and resuscitation
in the workplace.
Entry Requirements: This unit should be assessed after achievement of one of the following
related competency units:

Assessment Procedure: Assessment will be conducted during and at the end of the course to
demonstrate to your instructor that you have the required knowledge and skills

This process will consist of – Theory Assessment completed either on line or
workbook assessment requiring satisfactory completion of all questions.
Students with identified Language, Literacy and Numeracy deficits will be
offered an oral assessment if required.

Course in Basic Oxygen
Administration
Course Outcome:
This module will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to safely
perform oxygen therapy and resuscitation in the workplace.
Entry Requirements: Current Workplace First Aid - 'Senior First Aid' certificate, or
equivalent.

Nominal Duration: 4 hours
Qualification:
Your
Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment has been accredited by the
Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and entered on the

'Children's Services Act' - Vic & NSW.
Your
Statement of Attainment will be valid for 1 year and the Australian
Resuscitation Council recommends that you attend a resuscitation update
every 12 months. If you are unable to attend any sessions, please contact
your instructor

Course in Automated External Defibrillation
Course Outcome:
This module will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to
understand the safety requirements when handling an Automatic External
Defibrillator (AED), as well as the skills to use an AED within the first
minutes after a cardiac arrest
Entry Requirements:
Nil However it is recommended that participants have literacy competencies
equivalent to Level 2 as described in the Certificates of General Education for
Adults (2112AFL, 2212AKC, 2212ALC)
