Dr Glenn McKay
Managing Director

FFRRHH (RCSEd), MBChB, BSc, DipGrad, PGCertAME, PGDipAeroRT (Otago) 

Glenn graduated from The University of Otago Medical School in 2002 and has worked as a flight doctor with multiple rotary and fixed wing aeromedical organisations and in Emergency and pre-hospital environments for the military, RFDS, ski patrols, offshore oil & gas sector, and with disaster response teams he has also worked as a Medical Officer at the Kokoda Barracks for the Department of Defence, and has been a commissioned Medical Officer with the Australian Defence Force. Dr McKay completed his postgraduate training in aeromedical retrieval and transport with the University of Otago School of Aviation Medicine, and and has previously taught as an Assistant Professor on the teaching faculty for post graduate degrees in Retrieval Medicine at Bond University and was awarded a Clinical Fellow with the Queensland University of Technology, Faculty of Health, Paramedicine for roles in support of Paramedic education. Glenn is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Rural Remote and Humanitarian Healthcare, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

Michael Smith
Executive Director

Michael has been practising pre-hospital medicine for over 20 years and has been an Intensive Care Paramedic for the past 16 years with State-based ambulance service in Australia. He has worked with both State Government and Private pre-hospital ambulance services. He has experience with both rotary and fixed wing aircraft and has a strong focus on and experience in evaluation safety systems that allow for the safe delivery of care to patients. He has provided input to several major departmental enquiries that have implemented safety systems for pre-hospital clinicians.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Health Science through Victoria University and an Advanced Diploma in Paramedical Science. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Paramedicine, and holds qualifications in front line management of ambulance clinicians and has been involved with the development of university curriculum programs for the Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic)

Michael currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Medical Rescue Foundation and chaired the operations team that lead the Disaster Response teams to the Philippines Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 where the disaster response teams treated in excess of 3000 patients in a 30-day period. Michael continued this role when the foundation deployed teams post devastating floods in the Solomon Islands in 2014.

Michael has been actively involved with development of clinical governance mechanisms to maintain and expand the scope of practice of paramedics in the pre-hospital environment. Michael currently sits on the Board of Directors with the Australian & New Zealand College of Paramedicine and is also the company treasurer. Michael provided direct input to the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council in relation to the submission for Paramedics to be included on the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency as a registered profession.

Anne-Marie Ransby

Anne-Marie is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand. She earned her Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in Accountancy, at Massey University in New Zealand.

Anne-Marie has 24 years of extensive experience and is a dedicated member of our leadership team. Anne-Marie brings a wealth of business experience in financial and management accounting, tax planning and strategic direction, with a strong drive for capitalising on business opportunities.

Greg Judkins
Director – Operations

Designated Detective – NSW Police, Bachelor of Policing (Investigations) – Charles Sturt University

Greg is a highly skilled and experienced operations professional with over 29 years of experience with the NSW Police Force. Greg has previously overseen and managed complex operational logistics, ensured compliance with WHS policies, allocated resources, and led and supervised teams of specialist police personnel

Greg also played a key role in the creation and delivery of a NSW-wide emergency management training program which resulted in strengthened quality and consistency of responses to disasters and emergencies across the state of NSW. Greg has chaired a multi-jurisdictional, National Counter- Terrorism Committee (NCTC) working group to deliver enhanced aerial surveillance capabilities across Australia. He has served as the NSW Police representative on multi-agency working groups and worked closely with other services including the NSW Rural Fire Service and SES to create collaborative emergency response strategies.
Greg is very experienced at working under pressure and has a proven ability to swiftly adapt to new environments, quickly acquiring knowledge that supports effective and consistent operations delivery and brings a substantial degree of experience to our leadership team.
John Dobbin
Director – Assistance
Global Network Director

John hails from a successful consulting career spanning thirty five years. He has worked as a trusted advisor assisting companies design and implement transformations that deliver breakthrough results. He has extensive experience in strategy, IT, change management and operations; assisting organisations improve productivity and profitability in difficult and complex circumstances. He has consulted for public, private and government entities in APAC, MENA and the UK. Based in Dubai, John is a Director of Medical Rescue Assistance (MRAx) and is responsible for the management of MRAx’s global network of providers.

Will Crago
Director – International operations
PSM, MAICD, MBA, MA (International Relations), BA (Asian Studies)

Will comes from a career with the Australian Commonwealth and NSW State governments. With the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Will served in Jakarta, Seoul, Baghdad, Singapore and New Delhi. With the NSW government, he helped to double its international footprint. Will has extensive international operations, crisis planning and emergency response, security and risk management experience. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) in 2010. Will has a MBA, a MA in International Relations and a BA in Asian Studies. He recently undertook the Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors .

Dr Mark Shirran

Mark graduated in medicine from the University of London in 2001. He moved to Australia in 2004 and has since completed his advanced training in emergency medicine. He works full-time as a Staff Specialist Emergency Physician at the Gold Coast University Hospital ED. Mark has a specialist interest in pre-hospital/retrieval medicine and has worked in various operations on fixed and rotary platforms, both domestically and in the UK, including London’s Air Ambulance HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service), Essex & Herts HEMS, CareFlight Qld and RFDS. He has also completed a pre-hospital fellowship with Queensland Ambulance Service and continues to work part-time for them as a Senior Ambulance Medical Officer, with regular shifts on the Brisbane Trauma Response Team.

Dr. Nick Lonergan
Director Digital Health

Dr Nick Lonergan is a seasoned Australian Emergency Medicine Specialist who has adeptly combined clinical practice with strategic leadership in the medical industry. He has served as the Group Medical Director for a premier national emergency medicine provider and has been a pivotal Senior Medical Advisor for various pharmaceutical firms. Beyond these roles, Dr Lonergan has directed an array of commercialization initiatives, encompassing medical devices, significant state-wide health ventures, and private medical practices. Dr. Lonergan joins Medical Rescue Group as the Director of Digital Health, overseeing the companies digital diagnostic, telemetry and telemedicine hubs that support our rural and remote health personnel.

Dr Clare Wood
Director – Occupational and Environmental Health

Dr Clare Wood is a specialist occupational and environmental physician based in Brisbane. She qualified as a doctor from the University of Birmingham in the UK in 2004 before immigrating to Australia in 2007. She worked in emergency medicine for a few years, before finding her feet in occupational medicine in 2010.

She has worked in a variety of industries and consulted to many businesses across all aspects of occupational health.

She worked as the Occupation Physician for the Dept of Resources, Mines and Energy in 2017 working to implement reform regarding the early recognition and management of occupational lung disease in mine workers and has also worked for the University of Queensland covering all aspects of occupational health for the staff and vocational students primarily during the covid pandemic.

Since 2022 she has worked in private practice with a special interest in developing policy and practical approaches to prevent and manage the health and wellbeing of workers across all industries.
